1985-D error. Need help to identify.

Is this a d/d or a double die stamp or what, I am not sure. Is this a premium coin ?

Welcome to the forum Mike. Your coin shows machine doubling. This occurs when the machinery used to strike the planchet, chatters because something in the works is loose. You do not have a doubled die which occurs before the striking of the planchet, but instead during the hubbing process of the working die. There is no premium typically for this but there are people who do collect extreme examples of this.

I took another look at the photos. They are real blurry but it may be a plating issue also. This is when the plating will build up around the devices during a strike. Again, not a doubled die and no premium for this anomoly either.

It looks like die deterioration doubling to me.
