Yes, some people find them quite collectible. You will find them on 1983's and 1985's. Ken Potter did the research and writings on this anomoly. here is a LINK to it.

I've found quite a few while roll searching and not only 83's and 84's...if I remember correctly,I also have some 97's and 98's. I keep them though I'm not quite sold on the fact they are very valuable...maybe to the right person, but I haven't run into anyone yet.

These do not sell well anymore. Still a few bucks on eBay. The brass is from dissolved zinc blanks left in the copper plating bath (as brass is a combination of copper and zinc). Still a nice find...

you may have something if you one of a few collectors who have a variety in brass. Then you could say that you have the top coin in brass and that may be something special. You may research value of brass varieties to get more information as most coins are made of alloys and not just a single metal. I would like to look into this a little more.

These are fairly common in 1983. Is it a keeper....heck ya! Not just because it's brass plated, it's a nice red, BU 83D! Start yourself a roll or 2x2 it.

Never forget, .................... If you like it, keep it! To me that's what it's all about in the collecting world.
                Congratulations!
