    1940 penny

I was going through my photos and this one pop'd up I first thought it was I guess what you call a wood grain look.I looked closer and see what is not wood grain look but rather liberty lightly struck in couple places one best seen in front of fore head another below it and another some what be hind head I hope the pic show's this well enough

I have no way of explaining that as a Mint error. Is LIBERTY incuse (indented in the coin) or is it somehow showing up just in the wood grain as a counter-discoloration? Strange...

Very strange indeed. Photo gets too pixelated when I try to zoom in on it, but it also looks to be a possible class 6 (date & TRUST).

Is that incused or in relief... I see something but can not really tell what it is... This may be one that needs to be sent in for the in-hand inspection!!!

You could send it to one of our in house professionals listed on our site and along with a small fee you submit the coin for scrutiny and remember to include the cost of return shipping. The cost of attributing the coin is also listed on the site along with the address.
