    Commercial Stamp or Garage Job?

At a local coin shop today, I picked up another small group of wheat cents.

One of them you see below...

Is the "G" a commercial stamp (like many others we've seen) or is it just some randon garage job where someone stamped a funky "G" on the coin?

    Thanks for any comments...

There are many that have a commercial (commemorative) stamp on them...

      Bicentennial, state, large companies, etc.

It is down side up, so whomever did that must have been standing on their head.
These are a lot of fun IF the coin isn't too terribly important to a collection.

Pretty easy to get a set of stamps and do it at home. Letters and numbered stamps were standard tools where I worked in a machine shop.I still have a set in my garage.

Counterstamped coins are very collectible. I have found about 30 or so over the years. Numbers and letters are plentiful, but others with different designs are pretty cool. Here is a site where some counterstamps are listed: http://www.exonumia.com/art/cma.htm
