You need a better magnifier. I see no notching or doubling, just a normal coin. Please explain exactly where and in what direction you see doubling. Identifying the possible class of doubling always helps.
Wendell Carper It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!
I wear glasses and suffer from dry eye so maybe that is why the pics seem blurry... LOL... I have been taking so many pics of coins in the last year that the 32 gig memory card had to be reset 3 times already... LOL... Pics are not to bad but I do not see any doubleing or notching either!!!
Jim (A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
No offense meant, but I think you are trying a little too hard to see something...most doubled dies with be visible with a decent 10X loupe and a good light source.
i agree with maineman, since this forum is for learning i say this, buy yourself a 95 ddo look at it, study it, read all you can. when you see what notching and seperation look like, in person, ill bet you will be able to pick up on doubled die coins with ease. i like the 95 because it cheap and a great example of a ddo. it shows all the major devices . good luck

Outstanding suggestion. I remember way back when I first got started in the variety side of numismatics it was hard at first to distinguish between what we call false doubling (MDD, DDD, etc.) from a genuine doubled die.
Brown, I came across this 1995 1c DDO Die #1 a few days ago during my searching. I already have a couple of specimens in my collection so I really don't need this example. If you like, just PM me your address and I'll have it in the mail to you pronto.
Geez, Billy's cooler than even his magazine! (there's NO sarcasm here)
Beat me to it again, already my intention before I read his post, so I'll follow through too-
Brown- PM me and I want to send you a starter kit of die varieties (doubled dies and RPMs and a few educational pieces).
You seem to search relentlessly, I know your drive is there. With a little experience and a couple of good reference books, you can be answering the questions in a few years. Really.
SO- Please PM me- I want to get some stuff out to you that will help to answer many of the questions you've got. Sometimes, the only thing that can answer questions is having something in your hand to refer to.
On a serious note- what books do you use? I ask, because cherrypicking without reference books is like exploring a cave in the dark without a map. Lots of ways to do it, but there's only one right way.

I do agree . I could not find a trail if the stars were shining but I stepped back and began to see what some true doubling is like.
you do have to know the markers for certain dates. I still get it wrong with certain dates.
The internet can be an incredible tool to supplement your knowledge. But, I'd strongly recommend purchasing a couple of reference books. They have chapters that teach you what would take days to search out on the internet, if you knew what to search for. And also, they give a great foundation for what is and isn't collectible, so you know what to search for. There is absolutely no substitute for reference books.
