    1988-D Man made or machine made ?

    I am trying to identify this odd coin. Can you help ?

    In the area of question, is the outside edge showing copper plating or a bluish/greenish or whitish color (zinc)? It could be an incomplete planchet, even though it does not look right somehow. If zinc is exposed it is almost for certain damaged.

      pennies were cut/stamped from strips check the angle with a square see if tis a 90 deg angle could have been from a corner Richard

        I really don't think it's a corner clip and just based on the fact that there is no Blakesley effect on the opposite rim which would be significant, I'm inclined to say its PMD.
