    1943s rpm?

While looking through my spare 1943 cents to find one (or two) to run the steelie experiment in the coin stretchers, I came upon this one.

It appears to be 1943S-1MM-003 (EDS), but the 4 and the mintmark appear to be the subject of a greaser strike and maybe some MD.

Here are two different views (lighting) of the same coin...

    Thanks for any comments...

No comments on this one yet...

What do you think? RPM or greaser/MD?

It seems like your MM is a tad lower than 003. I believe it was struck through a partially filled die and it might be MD, but I am not positive though lean that way.

just a thought i would do a philly

as i understand it any steelie isnt rare but in terms of rarity they go philly most made denver second san fran 3rd i have hundreds and hundreds of each mint all rusty but i love them and if i was doing it it would be a philly why destroy a coin with a third of the production run unless enough people were in this together to create a rarity i am convinced though that the steelie is basically off the market as i only ever found one from bank rolls a half dozen from customer rolls and a dozen in bags so it might be a bank rarity but you can get hundreds of them at shows or by buying hoards i have had great luck with hoards and shows finding rpms and doubled dies most times cheaply as im the one that spots it not the dealer or the guys that just set up tables of dads stuff to make quick cash
