1909 VDB Damage or Error ?

    Hello ,
I was going through some coins I've had for awhile & just realized this 1909 vdb doesn't have a period after the letter "V". I can find no trace of one. I was wondering if this was maybe a struck through error or something or if this just looks like a damaged coin . Thank you

The die was probably filled with dirt or grease where the dot usually is. Not too uncommon on small devices like that.

Are you saying this is a struck through error?

No, I am saying it is a filled die.

Technically, I think this is an error. As Bob said, it is not post-strike damage.

I certainly wouldn't call it damage. If you are going to list it somewhere, a 'Filled Die Error' would be appropriate. With machinery, there is many times it picks up grease and loose particles of metal or dirt. If this stuck inside an incuse area of the die, this is what you get..
