    83 Grease Strike?

The obverse clearly appears to be struck thru grease, but on the reverse on the fg initials, the f appears to be doubled to the north. Any ideas on this one? Thanks and have a nice Sunday! Picture 778.jpg

It seems the obverse is slightly MAD and grease seems the likely culprit for the weak details. There are a few anomalies like the FG; I am not sure if it is well placed abrasion lines, something from the grease or another issue.

Definately got me puzzled too Jason. Gonna try and get clearer pics of it tomorrow. The rest of the reverse is fine other than that F. Maybe some more will chime in with some ideas.

It does look like die abrasion to the area with the initials. I can't see any clear doubling on the FG. I'll wait to hear others.

If it was abrasion wouldnt it be like scratched into the coin rather than raised, like this one?

Abrasions are scratched into the die; raised on coins.
