1996 wide AM lincoln cent ? maybe

Well I was searching some boxes of cents that I have for many yearsand I think I found a possible 96 widw AM cent

. I don't no for sure if this is a wide AM on a 1996 cent, but it sure looks like one. I don't think that any are listed for that date,

I posted a pic of a proof wide cent first picand my cent second pic ,and marked them with red to show you how wide they are ,and there about the same width between the A and the M

I would like some feedback and opinions on this coin

    Thank You Jazzcoins Joe

One of the characteristics of Wide AMs is that the distance between the A and the M will be the same as the distance between the M and the E. This is not the case with this 96 coin. I don't think this is a Wide AM. I've gotten fooled the same on many 99s.

Nope..Looks just like the rest of the "not so sure" wide AMs.. Questions all the time about people thinking these are the wide AM..just becuz its slightly not touchin together. Just a different die I would think

      Its not. Sorry

It's not a Wide AM. It appear's that: If you look at the A and M there is deterioation between the Letter's I have also been fooled by the 92, but I have drawn the conclusion that it's not. I also look for this error, because you never know what the Mint may have done.

You also need to look at the G of the designers initials. This will also verify if you have a legitimate Wide AM.

Hi JAZZCOINS, I'm new here. An easy rule to follow for WIDE or CLOSE AM's is:
a m WIDE; initials CLOSE to stairs.

AM CLOSE; initials FAR from stairs.

For your sake I hope your 1996 is a wide A M. That would cause a big stir and would be very, very rare. Good Luck. Be Objective.------mouse
