Would this 1974 be a fake / or magicians coin? Your thoughts? Thank you Vickilynn

I think it might be acid-dipped or something, and that's giving it a lighter weight. Not sure though.

Maybe so , but Im thinking it would show a lot less detail if the weight was taken off with acid ?

Acid reduces all surfaces evenly, meaning that the coin gets thinner but the details aren't eaten away any faster than the fields, therefore leaving the design. Although half the mass of the coin may be gone.

So are you saying you agree with Simon? also wanted to mention it appears smaller in size but the egdes seem some what normal.

I'm completely agreeing with Simon and at the same time addressing your reservations about the idea. It's unquestionably an acid dipped cent. Do a forum search on the term and you'll likely find over 50 similar coins.

I'm pretty sure now, vickilynn. I said I was unsure because I missed the pictures of the reverse. I'm highly confident it is an acid dipped cent.
