    Very dirty pennies.

Ok so I went through a bunch of pennies last night that I had just received and I found 5 o 6 that I cant even read the dates because they are so dirty or corroded, now most likely they are not any thing special but what would be the best way to clean them with out totally destroying the finish/patina or is that not even possible, the corroded ones maybe not be savable but the really dirty ones have no corrosion just built up with dirt so badly I cant read the dates lol.

Give them a bath in 100% acetone.

Remember to wear protection for your hand and eyes when handling acetone.

Most of them I don't bother if the coin is so corroded you can't see the date....not worth the effort IMO.
