I wanted to know if anyone can tell if this is a large or small date. The first picture is the coin in question. The second picture is of all 3: Large, MM in question, and small. I was thinking it might be really worn making it look bigger. But, I noticed the tail and the top serif look kind of like the large style. Also, it might be too worn to tell anything. Thanks for the help!

Looks like a small S (mint mark, not date) notice how thick the upper part of the S is, here is a good comparison http://www.lincolncentresource.com/1928mintmarks.html -
I agree with Roger that it is a "small S."All opinions expressed are not necessarily shared by willbrooks or his affiliates. Taking them may result in serious side effects. Results may vary. Offer not valid in New Jersey.Comment

Your coin is the more common small mintmark.Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG, Author, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"

When the so called small mintmark (MMS-002) is punched more deeply, the overall size starts to get similar to the larger S (MMS-003). Add in circulation wear, and I can understand the confusion. The diagonal cross bar is thicker as are the serifs which are also more well defined. Below, my collage is to scale. The lower right MMS-002 shows the punch deeper than the example above.
