Hey all... So I finally have a little time to start sifting through some of the cents I've set aside from the past couple boxes and one of the first pulls was this possible 1987 doubled-ear. I couldn't find much information detailing this variety. Other than a single article in Coin World regarding the first 87 and 88 doubled-ear finds and Wexler's listing as 1987 1¢ WDDO-004, I couldn't find much at all. Below I've pasted a link to that article below.. I would love to get your opinions!

I do remember that on Billy's 1987, the doubling was on the back of the ear, down low. I see something on yours, but there is too much glare to determine much.Comment

The '87 WDDO-004 may not even be a doubled die. And sorry, as noted, the coin shown does not seem to tbe the same as the one Wexler notes in the article

Here's a better representation of what's going on with a little less glare for posterity's sake... I have been looking at this ear for about 5 hours now so my objectivity is def floundering, but I could swear that I see two ears... Thanks guys!Attached FilesComment

That's a better picture, and I think I can see what you are talking about. In order to be absolutely sure, I would be willing to do an in-hand exam for you free of charge if you wish.Bob Piazza
