Looks like a large plating disturbance. Maybe a large plating blister ruptured.

Looks has a like a stain or chemical, if the field has a ridge around area chemical otherwise stain.

Not sure how to select the best answer. This is why. It is difficult to tell exactly from the photo but the exterior ridges of this "blistered type" appear raised to me and actually seem to go underneath the date. It appears to me that there is a gully inside that has collected dirt and the patina has changed over time (which could be indicative of the stain area you are referring to) I do not like to second guess or question the determination of so many experts... I am just kinda torn on making a decision on this one. I realize that the insignificance of my question is not imperative in any way as it relates to varieties or error coins. It is simply another one of my "what is this" questions. Thank you all for taking a look and giving me your feedback!!

That's what I was seeing from the photos; an area that appeared to have been a collapsed blister with an edge to the periphery. That's why I think this is the remnants of a large plating blister. Granted there are some stains on it as well.

OMG jallengomez, I know you are a big dog, but we are both rubbing against some mighty big dogs on this one This definitely falls into the "I wish I hadn't asked this question now" category. And to make matters worse... it was a dumb question on my part to begin with. Oh no...

I agree with everybody, it looks like plating disturbance with a stain on it that may have been caused by chemicals.
