    Proof-like steelies

I have some steel cents that are almost proof-like looking. I was wondering if maybe 1st strike steelies could look like this or are they most likely polished? Sorry no pics, my camera just isnt capturing the shiny images very well.

here is an attempt to photograph it.

They are probably replated. Tough to tell without pictures though.

            Plated indeed, not original.

There are many plated or messed with steel cents out there.

              Some clues are:

Plated: Too shiny, no flow lines, blueish tint, doubling from new plating pooling around details, rust or cheek wear under new plating.
Lacquered: They start to get a yellow or gold tone as the lacquer gets old.
Cleaned/erased: Surface looks too smooth and not satiny like originals and no cartwheel.

The correct uncirculated steel cents should be dull as they are plated zinc over steel. When they re-process these, they often use a different plating and they look shiny, which ruins collector value.

I must agree with the consensus! Very attractive coin without a doubt!
