    1969-S Lincoln Cent Obverse Error ?

    Well My favorite U.S. Coin still remains the CENT .
    Couple weeks ago I noticed a few Gem 1969-S Cents received as change
    so I returned next day and again received a few more Gem 1969-S Cents.
    On the 3rd day I returned and simply asked if I could purchase a couple
    Rolls of Pennies. The Store Manager said "OK"
    When I got Home I noticed the "Old Original Wells Fargo Bank" coin rolls
    and they contained 1969-S CENTS !
    I would like to submit a Scanned Image of one coin in particular.
    Notice the obverse "IN GOD WE TRUST" missing "R" with a Die Crack ?
    Certainly would appreciate Any/All input ! THANKS !

      Welcome to the forum. Your coin appears to have been struck-through grease. See definition below.

      Struck Through Filled Die: The most common form of struck through, a cent that is struck though a filled die will have missing or weak design elements. Since that portion of the die is filled or clogged with grease or dirt, that portion of the design will not be struck on the coin.

          ............So as far as a Common Error....should I not plan to Retire from the Errors Value ?

                      Nice strike thru... Not sure on the crack (Pic appears washed out)... To me there appears to be a lamination in the same area as the strike thru just not sure...
                      Lamination Error: This is when metal cracks and flakes off of the surface of a coin, due to impurities in the alloy mixture. These occur almost exclusively on solid alloy coins, and are therefore found on pre-1982 Lincoln cents. The flaking piece may still be attached (retained) or can be missing.
