    1999P Extra Columns?

Extra Columns are not my jam but since I look at everything... this one has me puzzled. First thought was some kind of split plating issue because I see some verdigris next to the lines of Bays 8,9 and 10 (but not in 11). There's no sign of die polishing, no feeder fingers, no linear plating issues anywhere. But whatever is in these bays is wacky!

I researched the forum and didn't see anything like this on a 1999, there was one discovery with a partial extra column. This is just too weird to be anything like that IMHO, but I'll let you guys decide.

Photos are the best I could get ughhhhh!!#*!

Bay 11 has 1 line right down the center
Bay 10 has 1 line more toward the right
Bay 9 has 2 lines that are joined with a slant at the bottom
Bay 8 has 2 lines similar to Bay 9 but they are not joined at the top or the bottom

Disclaimer: I can see Bays 11 and 10 pretty clearly, the other Bays listed are described the best I can see them.

Edit: Added straight on Reverse photo

    Wow, that's a head-scratcher!!

They almost seem too wide, but I'm not really good at these ones either. Wonder if anyone else is up at this time of the day lol!

Yes strange, I can barely see the lines with my loupe but with the camera it makes them look really wide and distorted. I'm thinking plating issue, but Bay 11 is making me second guess that. LOL... I think most normal people are asleep

Yep, and imma join them shortly!

Just seeing if there's anything on the Bay I can pick for under $5, and finish up my rolls.

This morning I tried to get a better focused photo and couldn't. But I did take a straight on Reverse photo to better show the verdigris in Bays 8,9 & 10. You know how I can move my camera around to better see trail dies. Well that is what I have to do to see the anomaly in B 8,9 & 10 so it makes it look thicker and distorted. Bay 11 I do not have to do that, it just pops up, although it does look thicker because of the light glare.

Sorry guys, hope Frank and I didn't wake anybody up with notifications last night. He was ebay shopping and I drank too much coffee and could not sleep!

I would say that there is clearly something going on in the last four columns. I like that find, always checking for it when I search.

Thank you Mici! Last night I found a 99P on the web with a full extra column in Bay 11 and a partial column in Bay 10. Just waiting to see what our experts say

Thank you Jim and Mici for taking a look! It would be really cool if it is a DDR!

                    Updated pics!!!

Well I took a good look at this one... It does not appear to be a DDR to me (A normal one any way)... All of the areas that look like columns are in cuse as is the large area east of C12... I do not think it is PSD as the in cuse areas have even smooth edges except for what appears to be corrosion from plating issues... The area in B11 also appears to have the same shape as the top area of C11... The area east of C12 also appears to have abrasions at the bottom... I do not believe it is a counter clash due to the abrasions in the area east of C12... The only thing I can come up with is this is similar to the Grease Mold Doubling that has been found on some coins... Maybe one for Mike Diamond to look at???

Thank you very much Jim for taking these awesome photos and helping me figure out what is going on here! Boy was I way off, I thought the lines were raised LOL!! I looked at Grease Mold Doubling on http://www.error-ref.com/ and the LCF Glossary and it looks like it causes a raised anomaly so now I am confused about that.

I've seen several cases where someone has dragged the tip of a sharp stylus down one or more of the bays to replicate the look of an extra column. John Wexler was once fooled by this type of alteration. Anyway, I suspect that's what you're seeing.
