I don't see any reason to think there's a d under it.
The little sort of diagonal line in the lower loop is part of the punch and I think it's the punch with doubling but it doesn't show on yours.

I'm with Ed... You do have MD on the date and MM by the looks of it... Also MM varieties would go into the Variety Forum or, if you are unsure, into the Collector Q&A Forum!!!
