Just wanted to see if this Factory error would make it impossible to get a grade20180415_194033-0.jpg20180415_194559-0.jpg20180415_194615-0.jpg20180415_194629-0.jpg20180415_194725-0.jpg20180415_194745-0.jpg20180415_194923-0.jpg20180415_194933-0.jpg1523598406116.jpg

It's not worth sending in. The number on the bill isn't really a big deal either, considering the fold.

Lol. So it wouldn't even be considered for grade?

You are correct Noel, your 82D SD does have blistered plating, from our Glossary.

Blistered Plating (also called plating bubbles): Gas bubbles that form under the copper plating on copper-plated zinc planchets. Gasses or contaminants that get trapped under the plating expand from the resulting heat and pressure during the strike, causing the plating to push up. These bubbles can vary widely in scope and appearance ranging from small scattered bumps to large elongated or “linear” blisters.

No it wouldn't and it's a shame too because otherwise it's a very nice and shiny cent. Glad you are okay with us having some fun around here, I think you will fit right in with the bunch

Sorry Noel. That was what I saw when I pulled up the pic, it looked like braille to me.

Even with the blisters still a nice looking 82D SD... There was contamination in the plating tank during the plating process... It ended up between the zinc core and copper plate... Over time the zinc began breaking down and gas bubbles formed... Some time in the future those bubbles will burst leaving holes in the plating... Corrosion will get so bad that the MMs fall out and leave a crater!!!
