You are welcome Numismatician! Just enjoy your Lincoln search and learn as you go, getting all stressed over finding something so rare will just make you feel defeated, and zap the fun out of it!

If I read your title correct you were thinking this was DDO 003??? Here is CCs 003 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds On die 3 the only doubled area is on the 96... Also notice the MM position of yours compared to CCs sample... Your MM is to far south and slightly west... On yours it looks like die wear in the areas you pointed out... As the die wears and the mint tries to polish the dies the devices become mushy looking... Eventually it makes the devices appear really thick but they are not doubled... Here is a link to a couple of 10c coins I posted with die wear that has gone beyond the mushy stage http://www.lincolncentforum.com/foru...ight=worn+dies Hope that helps a little... If you PM me your address I will send you a little something to help you out!!!

You are right that many 69-S have MD but Jim is right that most of what you pointed out is die wear. The die wear makes the letters have a sloped edge instead of a sharp cliff, in different lighting it can look doubled, strike doubling makes sharper step/shelves.

Don't give up on looking for a 69-S DDO-1, I look at every one hoping but none have been it.
I want to find one but the odds are really low that I ever will. Many people win lotteries each year, probably thousands of big lottery winners since 1969 but only a few dozen lucky people have found 69-S die-1s so the odds are not good. The only advantage we have is there are not that many people looking for doubled dies and it's free to look at every 69-S we get. What keeps me going is the thought that someplace someone is spending one today, there are a few buried in the parks and some hidden in coin rolls.
