    1962 GRADING HELP

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the picture quality. I am new to coin collecting & this is my first time posting. So please bear with me.

The pictures do not do it justice. It is a lot prettier in person & a bright red. However, based on what you see, would this coin be something worth getting graded by a 3rd party? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Guys!

Welcome to the forum! I would save your money on this coin. Coins like this are plentiful and this coin shows scratches, dings and surface imperfections that would not grade out.

      Welcome, good first post.

The pics are fine [better than many that I've posted].

I would concur with mustbebob with your coin. If it were my coin, I would not get it slabbed/graded.

Unless you have some money burning a hole in your pocket or it has great sentimental value, it would not be worth the cost.

If the coin was in perfect shape meaning no nicks, dings, wear, etc. it might be worth it but, that is a common year and somebody probably had it in a collection and released it back into circulation.

Welcome to the forum!! That's a good first posting of pics in my opinion. You'll get better as you go along! As the guys said, not worth putting in plastic though.

Thank you all, for the warm welcome. I appreciate you guys taking the time to help me out. Especially w/ me being a coin noob & all. I compared my coin next to the pic I took & I'm thinking maybe I should have another photo shoot w/ my coin. Because like I said before, it really doesn't do it justice at all. The coin has bright orange & red tones. It's almost metallic looking.

I hope that didn't come off rude or that I am doubting any of you. So please forgive me if it did. I truly appreciate all the help! It's my fault. I shouldn't have posted the picture until I was satisfied w/ it! Just excited about my first post..that's all.

Welcome to the LCF MJBTGLIS! It's okay to post more photos of your coin if you would like to, and we don't think you are being rude at all. It is a normal thing for these Lincoln's, especially the shiny ones, to make photos difficult to take.

One thing though, we are not supposed to post any photos from the internet on the forum without written consent from the owner or author of the photo. So, please remove the photo you posted from the internet on Post #7. Again, no harm done, everyone of us were brand new when we first started and you will learn as you go

Looks like you may have a proof coin from a set.

If that is the case, the proofs are still under $2 on ebay so still would not make economic sense.

                          Proofs are beautiful coins.

Yes, they are very pretty. Would a circulated proof coin possibly give it the red AND orange metallic look?

I removed the image... Due to copywrite issues we can't allow images and items from other sources to be posted with out express written permission from the owner... You can always post a link to the subject matter and we can go from there... TPGs (Third Party Graders) such as ANACS, PCGS etc allow the owner of a coin they had graded to use the images purchased... Hope that helps a little... As for getting good pics it can take a lot of practice... Do the best you can... It use to take me hundreds of pics to get a good one and that is no joke... I feel the pain!!!
