    1912 or 1917?

Found a century old coin but not sure of the date. The view with the naked eye could go either 1912 or 1917 with the D mint mark. With the use of the loupe it leans towards 1912 but with magnified pictures it leans towards 1917. Hopefully someone with more experience than I can determine tell tale signs of the last digit. Thanks as always.

From the first pic, I think is 1907.

It is from 1917. The 2 from 1912 takes a much different angle from top to bottom 1912 s b_edited-1-1.jpg
        Ps ,
The Lincoln cent was not struck untill 1909

          Nice work John.
I thought it was 1917 aso but without realizing the angle difference between the 2 and 7.
(first glance the image looked like '07 til I realized we were looking at a Lincoln.

Your take on this certainly makes this the clincher. Thanks. Ironically later today while searching my latest brick rolls I found a 1917! What a coincidence. Pictures attached.

Unless it is a pre production test coin

                    Certainly a 17.

The other one that confuses people after a bunch of wear is 1918, it starts to look like other dates or even sort of looks like 14 on really worn ones but the easy way to tell em is the 18s have the VDB on the shoulder but the pre 18 cents don't.
