I believe I found a blank plachet, it has the rim but both sides are blank, it was in my last roll to open lol is that pretty common?

You sure did, it's a blank planchet! Congrats! They are not very common to find in rolls, but do not have a high value.

I'm still puzzled over these because I've never found on in an unc brick, don't think I've ever seen anyone post that they found one that way. Yet sellers on ebay have what seems like unlimited rolls of them for sale. Someone must know where they come from in volume.

The mint buys them (for moderns but in the past the mint made them) already made from suppliers, I just wonder if somehow they get on the market from someplace other than in what the mint ships out.

Yeah I thought it was kinda odd to find one in a circulated roll, i figured it would be in a new roll. I found one a while back that had one side blank, i had read that that wasnt possible so i put it back in my go back to bank pile.

Neither have I Ed. Maybe they are leaking out of the plant in TN that makes the blanks for the mint! The Ball Jar lid company employee's?

So far only one doubled die has been reported for 2018, here is the link to it http://www.varietyvista.com/01e%20LC...001%20cent.htm

A shame you didn't post here before sending it back.
There are things that can happen. ("Blank" can mean different things to different people- uniface or brockage come to mind.)

True... but if Dearing didn't see any lumps or bumps and it was completely flat looking, more than likely it was filed down.

Cool find... Now you know what the proto rim looks like... A key item in identifying a weak strike... How much does the planchet weigh???

It was before I was on this site, someone tried to engrave a name on it.
