From reading in the forum glossary, I think this is a ridge ring? Important or not (?). Thanks.

Yes it's a Ridge Ring, here's the definition from our Glossary! Thank you Cliff for explaining! I think our Glossary is such a great reference tool!

Ridge Ring: One of the many manifestations of die deterioration, a ridge ring is a circular area of distortion that goes around the perimeter of a coin near the rim and is the result of cold-metal flow toward the rim from the striking process. Petes, thanks; I thought it was a minor thing, but some of them look interesting with 'it'--- as if they are going to a party. Or, ...maybe returning from a drinking party.

You're welcome! Yeah... like that first pic in the link I posted. Sometimes the die deterioration is so bad it looks crazy! Jon is good at finding the crazy ones! LOL!

will, I try. So many minutes in the day. Sometimes I wonder ---- takes forever for night to come, but then ,they pass by so quickly.

Those ridges are like a wave. I think it was a 92-P, I had that looked like a massive DDO because the ring doubled the motto. They can be pretty extreme and confusing but you see that ring and know it's die wear.

LOL, JF. I analyze them as well, but through the magnifiers. The pics, I don't want to have to do much of any editing than I need to.
