In ebay listings or in coin posts when the person lists several things, it turns out to be lighting or damage or they don't have a good idea of what is important versus what is a quality issue (all coins that are not perfect are not errors).
Your pics are pretty good so it's not a lighting issue (that will bug you more when you get some shiny ones).
So the things that you are dealing with are mostly damage or quality issues.
With damage, always look at the coin and if it's beat up in general then think about how whatever looks like something could simply be more damage. And the quality stuff, lots of older stuff like 50s have lots of chips and cracks. Modern ones can also have cracks or bubbles or bumps in the plating and all of that stuff is really quality not error, to me an error is something they would not want to ship not something that's not perfect.
I mean this in a good way, we all learned and the best way to learn is ask questions, be thick skinned and don't feel bad to be wrong. Don't stop asking questions for fear of being wrong but do learn from it, even the guy that says "silly question, it's nothing" might be right, but still learn from it and have fun! That is the way to learn.
The advice I give most people is start out looking for the known stuff, put other stuff aside. Later on you'll be able to figure most of them out instantly. Don't look too close at each coin, look at volume and you will find some bigger stuff and volume means thousands and thousands of coins.Comment
