Kevin, the plating is worn off exposing the zinc. It's junk. We are all happy to help you get started by answering questions; however, there quickly comes a time when you have to put down the coins for a while and study the tons of information here. The goal is for you to learn for yourself, not just post damaged coin after damaged coin after damaged coin. So far, you haven't even taken the time to figure out where to post your threads, despite multiple times of being instructed. This does not bode well. Unfortunately, it takes about 3 days for the moderator to chime into these threads, (which are already usually over) before they get moved to where they belong. Please slow down, and try harder to absorb what people are telling you. Thanks. This will help you get better answers and help us stay sane.

Nobody is offended. Just try to absorb and act on what the guys are telling you. That's all. Have fun, but listen and learn too. That's the key. Thanks.

Take any modern 1983-2020 cent and rub it on sandpaper or cement. First the rim will do that, if you keep doing it even the bust will be silver zinc color.

It happens naturally, stepped on or ran over in a driveway or run through the laundry long enough.

Sorry for the delay... Here is some info from CONECA on how to identify a real Unplated Zinc Cent... On your coin the big thing is how the rim of the coin is folded over onto the devices... Signs that it is from circ wear or intentional damage... Hope that helps a bit!!!
