1960 d Date error?

    1960 d Date error?

    I know it isn't the big one. But can't make up my mind if there is actually doubling or if it's something else?



    Also the nine show's the hook on it like the six. I don't think you can see that in the photo. Just wanted to get some of your opinions on it.

    That is some type of master doubling since it's on every 1960 small date I've seen. I haven't seen anyone try to explain it, though. On nicer examples you can see lots of raised metal around the hook of the 6 an 9, as you mention.

      It may be ejection doubling. I believe there is an article at Ken Potter's site on this. It's been awhile so let others chime in.

        This "sharper curl" on the curl of the 6 appears on every 1960 small date, so I don't think it could be ejection doubling. I've tried indicate that portion here:
