    mixed "font" on LIBERTY

I found this 1989-D last year and the lettering on 'LIBERTY' caught my eye. It reads something like: LIBERTY. Left of the lettering on Liberty there are indentations in the shape of each letter. All other lettering on coin is small with the exception of 'ERTY'. Any ideas to what this is?

It appears to be from extreme die wear, the type common to late eighties and early nineties Lincoln cents that impacted the outer portions of the die.

Thank you Jason, makes sense! I'm not sure about it's popularity...does it hold any value?

No premium I am aware of. I see LMCs with various parts of the design affected by die wear incorrectly listed on eBay all the time. I have seen them mostly as DDOs & double strikes...
