    Acid or Cloth?

I've seen both acid bathed and cloth strikes. I'm kinda in the middle of the two with this one. If it is acid, how can a person do this without showing signs of tool markings?

It would not require tools to toss the coin in an acid bath and dump it out after the damage was done. Poor old coin.

Something corrosive supplied by a vengeful shopkeeper realizing a Lincoln cent buys so little these days...

This is the second one I found. Maybe someone experimenting on trying to make it look like a cloth error???
