    1960D small date rpm clash & clash

    A small date rpm with obverse and reverse die clashes all in one coin.
    I have not yet identified this rpm. The obverse picture shows a clash between GOD and Lincolns head, a probable clash above and between the 9 & 6 of the date. The reverse shows a long curved clash behind STATES. Both sides of the coin appear to be slightly misaligned.

      Very intesting Jean. Can you determine if any of the marks directly pertain to the design from the opposing side? Maybe we should look at this coin?

          I am thinking the clash behind GOD is part of the UN in UNITED. As far as the marking above the date, perhaps part of a letter. The clash behind STATES might be from a rim clash.
          Just guesses on my part. I will be happy to send it out to you when you have time.

                  Maybe I should I take a look at it when you have a chance to send it.

                  I got the '58D with what is most likely a gouge (thanks). I am thinking it was a pre-installation gouge when the die was still soft, but it probably doesn't matter. I will use it along with a few others when I illustrate gouges on my site to show the variety that is possible.

                      That's a nice coin... The clash near "GOD" to me looks like part of the memorial bays and columns... Also noticed it looks as if the MM may be doubled and a column in with Abe in the memorial... You take good pics... I was able to zoom in at 400% and still had good detail!!!

                          Thanks for the kudos on the photography. The coin is an rpm, the picture taken with the QX5 microscope at 60X. I have yet to properly identify it. The remainder of the pictures are from my camera.
                          I will send this one out probably the beginning of the week to Jason.
