              RED FLAGS

              1. The coin is in the wrong spot to be sold
              2. No return policy which was clearly stated , but in very fine print
              3. A coin of this supposed condition should have been encapsulated
              4. The deal was just to good to be true
              5. Just because you think you know the person selling the con, it might not be them.

While the positioning of the mint mark is important, that can be doctored on a pictured. The one digit on this coin is atrocious and I did doctor the photo to enhance that digit to make it appear real. Close examination shows the sand mold affect (little pits and bumps) on all devices and design elements.

At the last show that I did over the weekend, I saw two more counterfeits (a Morgan and a Trade dollar) that were from China. All three coins were bought for reasonable prices (if they were real), however, they were not.

In other words, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY!

The sad part is that there are probably a large number of inexperienced collectors out there unknowingly filling albums with fakes such as this...

...And, one can only imagine with time that these fakes are just going to keep getting better and better...

That is the sad part of this post. While this coin is an obvious counterfeit, the people who are making them have gotten better, much better. And I am sure they will improve even more.

Forgeries are now being found with the correct metal content (gold, silver, etc) so not only is the weight close to being exact, but the dimensions of the coin as well. That is why I advocate encapsulation and even then one must be careful.

Well, well, well! Look at this duplicate, die crack on reverse and all! This one has been worn down to a VF and has blurry photos. Oh, and look at the date.
This counterfeit is going for $305 with 12 bids. No reserve! Poor neophytes!

i had no intensions of buying the 1909-s vdb coin.because i knew it was to good to be true.i posted that post so the other members would see what your respond would be.the only way i would buy a coin of that type would be incapsulated by a well known third party gradeing company.but i know it's all in good fun and a lesson for some.roy

Can someone report this one for not having clear pictures, then mention it may be a fake? The seller is obligated to show clear pictures which (should) help to clarify it to the current bidders...I am not on my computer or I would report it right now...
