1974-D 2 different types?

Have a look at these two different cents.. the one has awful thick date

There are two types, the large date and small date for 1974. I don't know what the exact numbers are, but they are close to 60% - 40% small date, and there are plenty of each out there.

The first is a large date and the second looks to be a small date!!!
