    Looks like some die deterioration there Frank. Some other areas look like they could be part of an RPM, but we would need a better example of the coin in an earlier die state to properly determine what this is.

      Could it be the punch that made the MM was at the end of its usefull life... I know there is alot of wear but some of the markings look as if the punch was worn beyond its limits... It would be nice if it were a new RPM after 90 years!!!

        This is die deterioration, not punch deterioration Jim. The areas around the mintmark have begun to wear on the die. A worn mintmark punch would not leave any of the marks you see while it was being used to punch in the mintmark.
