1984 Thick and thin dates?

Hi Folks, how is everyone doing? week end is finally here and had some time to search some rolls, I found these 2 different 1984 cents, what say ye?..

Hey Rich. If your referring to the 8 as being thick, it is. I would say it was due to wear after a hit. I am no expert on DDO.

In this case, we are talking about wear as David suggests. The wear could be on the die, or circulation wear. If it gets much thicker than the one you show, it would warrant a closer look.
