    [Tip] Grading by color

I am viewing some circulated coins that have a 'brilliant' luster, while others are 'flat'. Of the brilliant coins, some appear to be more 'white' while others appear more 'red'. Which are the higher grade? Thanks.

Yeah, I know. You don't grade by color. Everything else being equal, at that point would this color idea come into play at all?

Thank You for the link to Photograde, I was not aware of that resource. Seems very hard (to me) to distinguish very close grades. I have been using the 'Red Book' and 'A Guide Book of Lincoln Cents'. However, I admit to being only an 'amateur' and I don't do this for a living. Finding a 1931 S and a 'W' Quarter from circulation has brought some exciting moments, though !

An image would be helpful since I'm drawing a mental blank on a "white" circulated Lincoln cent, unless it has been cleaned.

            Perhaps a steel cent...
