    Grading Pennies

    Hi all!

    I have another question.

What is the best way to grade your coins without sending them to someone? I guess my question is more towards is there a site that gives examples of each grade of coin that I can check. I normally wouldn't care but I came across a 1917-S and just wanted a way to see a general area on the grading it would be. Plus i've seen some coins 'graded' by the owners of the coin and it seems way off.

Just looking for a general idea really, and more towards circulated conditions.

if you search the web for the book by Charles Duaghtrey "looking through lincoln cents" or something like that - there is a chapter on grading which i find the best.
you can actualy see the book online - try amazon.

Just go to a site that is a memeber of the top three grading companies and if they offer individual coins take a look at the grade of each coin. You could also buy one of the Books such as one by Scott Travers "The Coin Collectors Survival Manual". I would recommend this book as a start for all.
