The 1960P small date Lincoln cent

    Hello All,
I once again need help. I think that most of you know that I am a researcher / writer. I am in the process of doing a project that can be seen on MADdieclashes.com and has been briefly discussed in Coin World by Mike Diamond (3 Jan., 2011 edition, Collectors Clearinghouse).

For some reason, the 1960 small date Lincoln cents from both the Philadelphia and Denver mints have an odd assortment of die clashes not found on any other Lincoln cent from any other year. While I have a firm grasp on what has been happening with these die clashes in the Denver mint, the Philadelphia mint small date 1960 coins, because of the scarcity, are hard to find for analysis.

So, if you would, take a look at your 1960 small date Lincoln cents and see if they have a die clash similar to the ones found in this provided link:

If you do have something that is similar, please contact me at MADdieclashes@aol.com.

I do thank you all for your help.

I did find a 1960P small date with the tilted die clash that BJ is looking for. This one shows the clash marks through 'STATES' on the reverse. Please make sure that if you have these scarce small date coins, that you carefully examine both the obverse and reverse. The clashing will not be where you would normally find it (memorial bays/prisoner cents) but near the outer rim. Please see the site BJ references for the locations of these clashes. They may not be so obvious at first.

Eric, we haven't found any of the tilted die clashes on the large date 1960/ 60D...only the small date. Of course, you never know what might show up.

It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

The one pictured is the only small date "P" roll I have. I probably have 25 "D" small date rolls but no time to search...
