Inverted Statue DDR Discovered On A Lincoln Cent

I have updated the DVN "News & Announcements" web page with the first to report a recently discovered doubled die statue that is inverted 180 degrees on a Lincoln cent reverse. If you get a chance stop by and we will have more information and detailed photos to include die markers for attributing in the upcoming April 2011 DVN #23 issue along with recently reported new "extra column" varieties and much, much more.

Good luck in your collecting and searching endeavors.

    Regards,
    Billy

Wow! Great job there! I wouldn't have recognized that as an inverted statue! I probably would have dismissed it as random plating bubbles. Great detective work!

It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

Coin-crazy: Thank you for sending and allowing to update our files and share with readers. We will have more photos and your other coins in your recent submission in the upcoming DVN #23 issue.

I can understand some might think these could be die gouges or maybe gas bubbles. However, die gouges and gas bubbles are totally random with no specific pattern. We have at least 6 different points, as pointed out by the arrows in the photos, that match to the remnants below the primary statue. Random die gouges or gaseous bubbles wouldn't be matching in that many areas and with all of them matching at the same time.

I have been receiving e-mails requesting to know if the remnants are visible at low power. I have added another photo to the post that was taken at 7x magnification with the lighting source coming in from a different angle so as to provide viewers with another perspective. In this photo the remnants are quite visible even with a low power loupe.

                  Regards,
                  Billy

Oh, I know for certainty that you are correct, just that my mind would have totally erred and misjudged.

I would like to say THANKS to all of you for making DVN what it is. The DVN website is very close to tripping 55,000 hits with thousands of downloads of DVN magazine to collectors throughout the U.S. and even other parts of the world. So.... THANK YOU!!!

I updated the DVN "News" web page since a lot of "doubled column" type DDRs have been crossing my desk at a fast and furious pace. Thought we would share one of them with you to be on the look out for. We will be illustrating a lot more of these exciting varieties in the upcoming DVN #23 issue. So, stay tuned...

                          Regards,
                          Billy

I have quite a few double columns to submit myself.
Congrats to you Billy for such a fantastic magazine...it's like Collector's Clearinghouse, and I say that with no disrespect. I just love the mix of new finds.
