    1.3 million penny collection

This has probably been previously discussed: http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/23/news...nies/index.htm

Does anyone know more about this story? Is this guy an actual coin collector, or did he really save that many pennies for his retirement? I like the part about the truck sinking in the mud.

Also, what does Coinstar do with the coins? Does it just give it back to the bank? Is there a way to find out where they go, so I can avoid getting my cents from there?

That would have been a good multi-year hoard to go searching through...

he basically saved 13k and gave back 1177.00 to coin star. Should have gone to a bank with a coin counter opened a checking account and saved nearly 1200.00

Yeah Bob you do...but would you coinstar them? That seems to be the question as of late...to coinstar or not?

From what I've read on Coinstar, I'll probably return my pennies that way. I'll just get Amazon giftcards that I can use for school books. Does anyone know where the coins go? Can I find out specifically where they go from my local machine?

I've bought $50 bags from coinstars in the past, just to mix up my searches ever so often. You never know what people might be dumping in them with their jars of pennies.

Bob, some how I have a feeling you will eventually pass that up. 20 years from now we'll all be reading an article online about the "penny guy" in Florida who neatly stored away millions of Lincoln cents...ALL SEARCHED. Man, I don't want to be around when all those go back into circulation. it'll mess everything up
