    Cleaned Coin

The method i use to clean non-valuable coins seem to work great for me. It removes almost all of buildup of coin exposing the hidden marks that lie underneath. I only use this method, like i say, for coins that im not sure about. There is no rubbing or polishing necessary that may scratch the coin. Any scratches you see was already there. Just thought i would share this. Thanx again for giving us rookies a great place to come and post our thoughts and pictures . I have posted a couple of before and after pics. Picture 910.jpg

Thanks for this post. The proof of the pudding will be what will be the final effect of this cleaning after a couple of months or years. Have you kept coins for over a year or two and what were the final results to the coins surface. Thanks for sharing.

You are absolutely right. I have a 1941-1958 wheat cent folder that I put together over 50 years ago. I must have cleaned alot of the coins back then. You should see them now - all kinds of colors and crap an spots, etc. I will. Have to dig it out and post it. I left alone because of the sentimental value.
So if we clean a coin today with what ever cleaning way - down the road may become interesting on how they will look!

They never retone normally. I like Roger have some old cleaned coins (mine are 30 years old). They don't look normal at all. Of course, that said, that second coin in the thread was so corroded the cleaned version is superior.
