Silver Coin Prices up- will copper Follow

I went to a dealer to sell some really low grade Morgan Dollars today. I got $37.50 each. They were really bad grade. Will this be the trend. There were more buyers of silver rounds and bags of silver than one would expect. Nobody was buying varieties of Lincoln Cents. This may be the time to buy varieties at a real good price as most of them are available. The Chronicle Sets are off the charts. Can I see some feedback on what you have observed this month so far. Yesterday silver was $47.00 + per ounce. WOW.

I have been selling some for several months; $49. something this morning now $46.50+ blow big bubbles expect them to burst. I remember the early 80's well $50. to eventually $3. something. Different circumstances. Maybe prices will remain high ya never know.

Personally, I believe the current silver prices have wrecked alot of the low end collectors ability to add to their collections. Lots of folks don't have a huge cash flow but love to collect, so I do believe our current silver prices have thrown a wrench in their collecting plans...

Yep, I locked up all my morgans yesterday when I saw the silver prices. Strange you don't see the increase in the coin value charts.
Silver junk lots are selling like hi grade morgans were one month ago. Buying varieties of Lincoln Cents sounds very smart if you plan to resell. Sounds good.

All those low grade Morgans will soon be melted and the prices will go up till the end of April, after which time it will take ithe seasonal dip then increase again. I will buy the best coins I can afford when the prices are right.

I DON'T THINK THE PRICE OF COPPER WILL RISE MUCH IF ANY. CONSTRUCTION STARTS WILL DROP AS OTHER MATERIALS RISE PUTTING A LID ON NON-PRECIOUS METALS.

heres what i think about copper prices. copper is NOT a presious metal it never carried the value of gold or silver. that being said i have saved all my copper pennies for several years. a few weeks ago i decided im getting to old to ever see any real returns on it, i felt all the money i had laying in a drum would be for me anyway much better spent with a coin i could enjoy and pass to my grandboy so with just a few of my own dollars cashed in all those pennies and bought a pcgs ms 63 svdb. i love ms early lincolns and this was the right desion for me.

Bravo for you and you made the right decision. Buy something which is in demand and increases in value each year. I will be buying the Lincoln Chronicle Set and some proof silver a set of WAMs .

Copper is an industrial metal, pretty plentiful in supply. It's nothing at all like gold and silver. Within the context of collecting, the fluctuation of copper price will never be significant enough to cause the intrinsic value to effect the price of a coin.

Don't be so sure, never say never. The experts said we had enough silver, but when most of the silver was melted and mines closed China moved from a net exporter of silver to a net consumer, so they took all the available metal. It is hard to tell with copper as more uses may be found for it because of the cost. So we actually do not know where copper will go IMHO.

Agree with copperlover....never thought I'd triple my money on the rolls of 12-3 I had laying around or that I'd be selling copper cents on Ebay. It's not huge dollar amounts, but 50% profit is good any day.

I don't know where you guys are selling your Morgans but for low grade I was offered $32 in Miami. I have about a dozen of them in good codition and did not take the coins with me when I inquired. Where do I send them for $40?

Roller on the day I sold my Morgans @ $37.50 each, there was a full store of people buying and the store ran out of bags of silver. One coin collector comes all the way from OHIO to Maryland to sell his coins so that should say a lot. If you can get a lot of junk silver I could take you to this dealer where you could get the same price that I got. That being said, because copper varieties are not moving at the same pace it is a good buying opportunity for purchasing varieties at reasonable prices.

Price of copper will be going up... With China getting back into its growth spurt, Brazil rebuilding its electrical supply infrastucture and a whole bunch of other countrys getting into growth spurts the supply of copper will be getting tighter than it already is... While the price will most likely never reach that of silver it will get up there... Maybe double from what it is today!!!
