    WAM and CAM

Almost embarrassed to ask this one, because I get confused all the time on this one (yes I am directionally challenged, hubby can attest to this one!)

1997, should this have a WAM or a CAM?

According to what I am interpreting on LCR it should have a WAM but I have one that has a CAM...so, this is confusing the heck out of me???

Yeah, I am super embarrassed now

    Thanks

    Lara

As I understand, everything (in business strike) after '92 is CAM by design. The WAMs of '98, '99 and 2000 being presumably "unintentional" as is the '92 CAM. Keep the eye out for the '96 WAM (the Abominable Snowman and Sasquatch of Lincon Memorias, combined)."

I cut and pasted this from LCR WAM/CAM info page.

1994 -1997 and 2000- 2007 S proof cents should all have Wide AM reverses.

So is this correct or am I just not understanding the words here???

Everything from '93-'08 on a business strike is supposed to be a CAM with '98, '99 & '00 confirmed as having WAMs (and are coveted as a result). Proofs are WAMs with the exception being '98 and '99 were they occasionally are found with a CAM.

          '92 is normally a WAM with a few getting out as a CAM ('92 & '92-D).

I'm going to reiterate my quoted post above. Is the above bold a typo then?

Sorry for sounding really resoundingly stupid here. I think I'm having one of my blonde moments, seriously, I am, I think?

This is for PROOFS (not business strikes), and they are '89-'92 & '94-'08 as WAMs normally with a few '98 and '99s having CAMs.

LARA thanks for asking as they might be correct in their statement. The info Jason just gave us is indeed correct and covers the full range of the years of CAM/WAM. At first when I saw it I was confused but I spent some time on it and now it's covered.

The whole WAM CAM issue is confusing - I don't mind explaining...

I used to have to have a cheat sheet in front of me to remember while searching. My memory gets so bad sometimes, that I will literally forget the date of a coin the minute I turn it over. I pretty much have the WAM/CAM differences stuck in my head now.

I don't have the worlds greatest memory (possibly the worst if you ask my wife) but I will have to re-flip a coin now and then as well to make sure. I think its just that we get absorbed and overwhelmed at times by details we look for. I do not think it a deficiency in memory. (I hope.)
