About the same, but the bags I've snagged from the machines can be VERY nice. The problem is one of my banks refuses to sell me the bags. The other is happy to get rid of them. Sometimes the bags are a lot better because they are just customer dumps. There's often some nice, older BU coins and wheats in those bags. Also, their machine makes mistakes and often puts dimes into the cent bags so I usually score a couple bucks worth of dimes....a nice bonus. LOL

My experience has been the same as Thad's. When I get the opportunity I prefer the bags since the coins overall are usually nicer looking. The last few bricks I searched ended up containing a lot of garbage, corroded, road-kill coins.

Road-kill!!!! I would say poison with the amount of zinc and crud found on them.

IT'S JUST A COIN TOSS. WHEN I AM READYY TO GET RID OF THE LOOSE CENTS I'VE GONE THRU (4) OR (5) BOXES I TAKE THEM IN TO THE BANKS COUNTER. I THINK I LOOK THEM OVER VERY WELL; WOULDN'T WANT TO GET THOSE.

Indeed...people like you are my greatest fear!

However, it's all a roll of the dice either way. I've gotten some REALLY skunky boxes and some bags are better than others. The nice thing about that giant bag is that's it holds a helluv a lot of cents and you don't have to waste time breaking rolls. A bag keeps me busy for a long, long time! I like being able to quickly scoop a handful, like 2-3 rolls, at once. Considering how much searching I do, a bag is bound to save me a few hours without having to crack those blasted rolls.
