I have some different types of labels, such as those for first day issue, and the presidential dollar coins. I have never seen one where a pic of the anomaly is included though.

I have never seen this type of label for a variety. Nice grade.

The more I look at it, the more I think that it is a sticker over the plastic. You can see a shadow on the label.

I see what you mean with the shadow of the Liberty picture.

But why would the spacing of label be made like that if the sticker (Liberty) is not part of the original label.

Also did PCGS go to a different type of bar code system? (Note reverse of the slab)

Did you check the bar code on there site to see if it is authentic?

                  It's legit: http://www.pcgs.com/CERT/71591522.html

I emailed the seller asking him if it was as sticker.

Sticker, I've never seen PCGS put an image on the slab....I'd be very surprized if they did.

Normally when PCGS starts doing something like this they make a major announcement about it...I'd be highly suspicious of this. Who knows, maybe the seller just photoshopped the image of the doubling onto the slab.

"Under magnification, there may be planchet stains and/or contact marks present on the obverse & reverse of this coin, but as you can see nothing particularly visible or distracting to the naked eye."
I've never seen someone defend the condition of a Certified Coin. Why would someone feel they have to do this? Once a coin has been graded, ESPECIALLY by PCGS, at "MS68""" " arguably the most respected grading service to date, both the authenticity and condition, should be able stand on its own!

Be very careful here! there are many PCGS Slabs in the market fresh from China. Bob, you were right to ask the question. Buy the coin with a guarantee of re cert. because the only sticker I have ever seen on an AUTHENTIC PCGS Slab was a few hologram stickers on the reverse.

                            This was the seller response:

                            Dear 1909s-vdb,

I've never seen anything like it myself. It is not a sticker. The insert is between the sealed plastic. Also the serial number is on the reverse. Very unusual.

I am not sure that it is authentic and I would contact PCGS Customer Service and send them a photo of the slab. I't may be legit but I would not be willing to find out by buying it at the price asked. I would try entering the PCGS item number and see what comes up would be my next course of action.

                              Keep us informed Brad.
