    1973 CENT no VDB

A few years ago I read that some 1973 cents were missing the VDB and carried a small numismatic premium.

Since then I always look under the shoulder. I notice the VDB is often quite weak. I assume due to die abrasion.

I have found a few with virtually no evidence of the VDB. This one I found tonight is the nicest example I have found.

Does anyone save these and is there any premium?

I don't know of any premiums for these but do remember when 1989 "no vdb" was the one to watch for. I still have several I saved but have yet to find a collector of this anomaly.

Interesting. I don't even see any signs of polishing. Its as though the VDB was eliminated altogether.

                  Thanks all.

I have saved a few of these in avg circ cond. I also have seen many where the VDB is very weak but still visible. I don't know why this year would be unusual in this regard, but its interesting, nonetheless.

I have found one of my 73Ds with what appears to be no VDB... I will be getting a closer look and let you know what I find... I checked with 30x loupe but now I will check with 100x microscope... It was also filled and covered in grunge so I will need to clean it first!!!

The Hub was changed in '73: Obv bust smoothed out, letters squared; rev FG larger, monument details enhanced. So a no VDB is possible and yours looks genuine. Congrats!!!
