I'm guessing it was struck off center?

It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

I agree with Wendell... With some of the lettering being cut off I would think a keeper... I would keep it either way just because of how it looks!!!

Looks like it was a little off center as Wendell suggested but there seems to be something else about it that i just can't put my finger on right now. I'll have to put on my thinking cap and get back to the thread later.

I go with off-center because part of the lettering on the reverse is missing.

you are all warming up but keep your fires lit. Expand your search just a little longer. Not quite complete yet.

That's what I thought this morning. There is something more, maybe with the collar, but not sure yet what it is.

                      Is it broadstruck?

Thanks Bob,it is broadstruck and off center at the same time. I am not sure if it is worthwhile slabbing this Bob. This was my first error find.

Cool. I knew there was something else but couldn't put my finger on it. Besides, I kind of forgot about it for a while and got busy with another project on the forum. lots going on and lots of fun.
Great error. Love to find something like that myself.

By definition, a broadstrike has a complete design on both faces. The design is cut off on your coin and is therefore an off-center strike. Both broadstrikes and off-center strikes are struck out-of-collar.

Your coin was also struck with an inverted die setup (reverse die as hammer die). That's not an error. It also shows the effects of being struck against a stiff collar. Most minor off-center strikes struck with inverted dies usually show a stiff collar effect, so calling that aspect an error is debatable.

Thanks Mike, I had no other category to put it in. I need to a know more on this one. Every day I learn something new. I just don't know what category this fits.
