I'm not sure talking would make me rest any easier with the opinion being given that varieties are subjective to the individual. But I looked at the close up of the FG on the eBay auction and think it is too pixilated to identify, however the position of the initials looks to be correct and different than the pics that Chris posted. Talking all night long will accomplish nothing without good pictures.

I would like to thank mustbebob for the telephone call it was a pleasure to speak with him on this coin and some other new varieties arising.
I would like to quote ANACS from their web site "ANACS’ expertise is unmatched by any other grading service in regards to varieties and attributions. However, attribution specialists and experts may sometimes disagree concerning any given variety or attributions"
I understand that ANACS is not the final word on any numismatic item. However, Bob and I agree, and I imagine alot of others do also. Just as ANACS states, they are unmatched and they state what is in RED. So it seems that there can be disagreement on variety.
I would like to give everyone the opportunity, with me, to find out exactly how many 1988D RDV-006 Coins have been discovered. I only have what has been attributed within POP reports. ANACS states 4, this is with my coin also. Bob Piazza stated to me, he has 6. Who ever E-bay user I.D. oxfordchairman is, he stated to me he has 3. So now my total of 1988D RDV-006's comes to 13. If there are any others please upload photos/scans/minocular pics and add to the count. Thank you again Bob.Comment

I think I have three around here somewhere. Too busy to look for the third right now though. Here is two of them.
The second shown is the first 1988D RDV-006 reported. There are better photos of it on Variety Vista.

Welcome to the forum swfccsg and thanks for the update on your coin.
I would like to add that Wexler lists 8 known dies used for these '88Ds with reverse of '89D (while Wiles lists 3) - why I doubt these dies had anywhere near a full die run it does suggest there are far more of these lurking in change out west.

I believe we are back up to 13 total RDV-006 Lincolns. All of which are certified by ANACS. I have not seen any certified by anyone else yet and there are more than a few different varieties of the RDV itself. This is cool, I have updated my Store site on E-bay, user i.d. jandrcoins10 to reflect the number of certified 1988D RDV-006 Coins Verified.
Thanks Joe,
JamesComment

Is this the reverse difference? The STYLE OF THE 'FG"?Attached FilesComment

Yes the FG
'88s should have RDV-005, but some have RDV-006 as an error/variety
'89s have RDV-006

James, Wexler's has all 8 of the known die pairs shown on their website, however I've never heard of varities for the RDV-006 FG itself. We also did a survey of how many members had them but I can't seem to find the thread right now.
hemisboats, there is a picture of the rdv-006 about 4 posts up that BadThad posted...you can easily compare a 1988 to a 1989 to see the difference.Comment
