    2011 ddr!!!!!!

I picked up a couple of boxes from Engine, looked at several dozen rolls and got burned out on seeing the same dies (thank you though Shannon! That was awesome for you to make them available to everyone!)......I ordered a dozen 2011 rolls from a seller in Miami.....nothing. Then 10 more from a seller in Puerto Rico, a couple of interesting things, but I want the gold! Nada.

Late at night I'm going through one of my stock boxes, picking out ebay lots to list- http://shop.ebay.com/oxfordchairman/...id=p4340.l2562 (Sorry for the shameless self-promotion, summer's slow!). I come across a packet of small paper envelopes. A couple of months ago, a friend sent me some 2011 minor die trails and a possible doubled die obverse. One of the envelopes was marked 2011 DDR (?). I had been underwhealmed, but thankful for the die trails, I guess I never opened up the DDR envelope. I thought, "what the heck?". When I put the initials under my loupe, you'd have thought I was on a Looney Toones cartoon!!!

Yeah, it was the big one that Billy brought to all of our attention!! I got a hold of my buddy, with a promise to send him a pile of OBWs as a thanks. He had 3 more, so I bought those from from him too.

So, let's bring the total population to at least 5 known. I haven't seen the other 3, but the specimen I have exhibits the same die gouge behind Abe's neck as the example shown. High grade, MS-66+. Can't wait for the others.

Was a VERY productive night cherrypicking too- tore into some OBWs and in addition to a good handful of dramatic 61-D and 60-D RPMs, found a half a dozen ultra high grade Memorials (66+). Also pulled a 68-S DDO #1 out of some Pre-82 circ OBWs, coin grades Unc brown and is the sharpest, earliest die state specimen I've seen out of over a dozen examples. Die is usually mushy without crisp definition on the majority of the motto. This example has well, just WOW.

Sorry, no pics yet- will post sometime over the weekend. Hope everyone enjoys theirs!

Congrats Chris. Still looking for mine. I'd liket to mate one with my DDO-004.
