    PCGS Questions

So if I pay the $49 a year for the silver package. To submit DDOs and other errors will cost me $50 submission plus shipping costs?

Which pretty much means unless its a mint coin its not really worth it? Just wondering your thoughts on the subject. I would join the gold for the 4 free submissions but that doesnt include errors and thats probably all I would be submitting.

So am I reading it right? $50 bucks plus $17 for return shipping? and thats for a month wait? Grading my football cards sure is alot cheaper. Seems a bit pricey unless your submitting massive amount of coins in bulk......

Thanks as always for any info!

Yes, PCGS is expensive and it's not worth sending in a coin unless you think it will be worth at least $150 after grading. I refuse to join after adding up all the costs per coins.....regardless of what they say, you don't really get 4 "free" grades. Figure it out and you'll see.

I use my local deal to submit. He charges me a flat $25 to piggyback with his submissions. It takes a LONG time (months) but it's very cost effective.

They are expensive and if it were me I would make sure the coin has a good deal of value to have it graded and encapsulated. Don't forget to add the cost of packaging and Insurance going to them.

That is why I use ANACS to grade and encapsulate my varieties.

NGC has there own Variety Number system and I do not use them for varieties and sometimes I will for Errors.

      Just my preferences.

Yeah, looks like I will probably pass on pcgs. I wish I had a local coin dealer but I dont, Im sure I could get a better deal that way. Guess Ill check out ANACs and see what their rate is.

        Thanks guys!

Does ANACs do trails die coins or is that just ICG?

EDIT: Thanks for the ANACs tip, they are about what I pay for grading my rare sports cards. Definately will be using them most likley.

I am not sure on Trail dies and you would probably need to ask BJ if ANACS does them.
